In troubled times, it can feel like the world is coming to an end, like all is lost, nothing goes right, and things will only get worse.
But that’s not what God says about our future. Here’s how the Lord speaks in Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV);
“‘For I know the plans I have for you, ‘” declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.'”
God wants to give you a wonderful future, and He is always doing good in the now. One of the things that I challenged myself to do in the spring of 2020 was to write down every time something good happened or something bad I feared didn’t happen.
I wrote down every little thing from the timing working out well for my day to being able to get groceries without a problem to signing on new coaching clients to friends’ homes being sold to people getting jobs to weather being sunny. Anything that was not bad, I wrote down and emphasized in my mind.
This helped my mind to look for the good instead of what was not right. It also helped me to not assume bad.
Ask God: Please help me to see the good, dwell on the good, remember the good, and expect the good.
Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable–if anything is excellent or praiseworthy–think about such things. – Philippians 4:8 (NIV)
